July 28th: What The Spell | An RPAC Fundraiser
Alright, folks get ready to out-spell (and out-cheat) the competition at DMAR's first-ever What the Spell, a tournament of verbal smarts and fraudulence - aka a spelling bee fundraiser for RPAC. If you live to spell, grab some teammates and sign up to compete against other three-person teams all vying for ill-gotten glory and the title of Spelling Bee Champs. Fear a world without spellcheck? No worries! Come on down and watch the fun as part of the audience. Teams and spectators will both be able to play along by paying to steal other team’s teammates, pass on a word and other nifty (or tricky) cheats to help sway the Bee in their team’s favor. The best part?! All proceeds, including ticket sales, go to RPAC.

Yun: Gains in Pending Home Sales Likely Short-Lived
Pending home sales broke a six-month streak of declines in May, but economists warn the increases likely are temporary. Contract signings—a forward-looking indicator of home sales based on contract signings—inched up 0.7% last month, the National Association of Realtors® reported Monday. “Despite the small gain in pending sales from the prior month, the housing market is clearly undergoing a transition,” says NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun. Home Sellers Can’t Be Greedy Anymore
Home sellers had gotten used to setting sky-high asking prices, and voracious buyers were eagerly bidding them up even higher—until now. As the market shifts more in buyers’ favor, over 25% of homes on the market have experienced a price drop as of mid-June, according to data from Altos Research. In some areas of the country, price reductions are even more commonplace--most notably in Provo, Utah, where nearly half of homes on the market had a price reduction in May. Redfin data pinpoints other cities where 40% or more of listed homes are experiencing price drops: Tacoma, Wash., Denver, Salt Lake City.... Read More
How home-price growth has damaged the housing market
The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Index just recorded 20.4% year-over-year growth nationally and a record 21.2% growth for its top 20 city composite, and now you know why my most significant concern for housing was home prices overheating, not crashing like people have warned about from 2012-2021. NAR Leaders Break Down Affordability Crisis for Lawmakers
Leaders from the National Association of Realtors® made the case to members of Congress and their staff on Tuesday that housing affordability is rapidly deteriorating and action is needed to keep homes financially accessible to buyers. In an exclusive virtual briefing, NAR President Leslie Rouda Smith told congressional leaders that for too many Americans the cost of buying a home remains a barrier to property ownership—a primary pathway to generational wealth-building. Safeshowings App is FREE for DMAR members
The SafeShowings app provides an easy, mobile way for real estate professionals to scan in visitors’ driver's licenses prior to showing a home. The app stores an image of the individual’s license alongside the listing info and agent information. It keeps an ongoing list of people who have entered the home and when they were there, which can then be accessed via the app or on the web. This smart and simple app helps keep you safe during showings. Plus, it deters criminal behavior because you have photos and contact info of all the potential buyers. Read More
