Refinance Loans Propel Yet Another Increase in Home Mortgage Lending Activity During Fourth Quarter of 2020


 ATTOM Data Solutions, curator of the nation’s premier property database, today released its fourth-quarter 2020 U.S. Residential Property Mortgage Origination Report, which shows that 3.51 million mortgages secured by residential property (1 to 4 units) were originated in the fourth quarter of 2020 in the United States. Read More



Fannie Mae tightens standards on investment properties


Fannie Mae is tightening the underwriting criteria for second homes and investment properties, the government-sponsored entity said in a letter to sellers on Wednesday. “Recent amendments to our senior preferred stock purchase agreement with Treasury impose additional risk criteria on the loans we acquire,” the GSE said in a letter. Read More



Black Homeownership Rate Hits Lowest Level Since the 1960s—That’s Unlikely To Change in Pandemic Year 2


In the second quarter of 2019, the Black homeownership rate dropped to 40.6%, down seven percentage points from roughly a decade earlier. It now hovers closer to 44%, while the white ownership rate is far higher (approximately 74%). The Black homeownership is a significant drop in recent years. Read More

Housing Market Recovery Index: Housing Market Remains Resilient Almost 1 Year Since Declaration of COVID-19 Pandemic


On March 11, one year will have passed since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Close to one year after this announcement, the housing market continues to display its resiliency, as the realtor.com Market Recovery Index reached 101.6 points nationwide this past week, 0.5 points higher than the previous week and 1.6 points above pre-pandemic, early 2020 benchmarks. Read More
