Metro Counties Transition to 'Safer-at-Home' Order

As Denver and other Colorado counties move to a “Safer-at-Home” order beginning Saturday, May 9th, we wanted to provide some general guidance and clarification for our members.

First and foremost, under the Safer-at-Home order, in-person showings are allowed in all Metro Area counties. However, that being said, REALTORS® must follow the strict guidelines and safety precautions as outlined by the state order:

  • Real estate, which includes in-person real estate showings and marketing services, must adhere to social distancing requirements with cleaning and disinfection between each showing.
  • Open houses are not allowed.
  • Personal services with low personal contact, such as movers or repair services, must implement the following:
    • Maintain a minimum of 6 feet of separation between customers and adhere to social gathering limits of no more than 10 people.
    • Require face coverings and, if feasible, gloves for any customer interactions.
  • Maintain detailed log of customer interactions to enable contact tracing.
  • Critical Businesses must comply with the guidance and directives for maintaining a clean and safe work environment issued by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and any applicable local health department.
  • Critical Businesses include Financial and Professional Institutions (banks and credit institutions; insurance and payroll; services related to financial markets; professional services, such as legal, title companies, or accounting services; real estate appraisals; and transactions.

For more detailed guidelines, please refer to Appendix B of the Public Health Order 20-28 Safer at Home which begins on page 18, here.

As always, we will continue to monitor county and local health department websites for any changes that deviate from the state-wide Safer-at-Home order. If you have questions, please contact DMAR’s Director of Government Affairs, Peter Wall, at 303-880-7405.
