All candidates and issues were carefully vetted by a candidate interview committee, the government affairs committee and DMAR’s Board of Directors. Endorsed candidates had favorable stances on key REALTOR® issues such as construction defects reform and the protection of property rights. Most importantly, these candidates expressed a strong willingness to engage DMAR and its membership in an effort to improve their respective communities.
A big thank you to all of those involved in the candidate interview process including Andrew Abrams, Barbara Ecker, Bonnie Emge, Karen Frisone, Shawn Maricle, Adam Maxey, Kristen Miller, Jason Peck, and Sabrina Zunker.
► YES on Denver’s 2C – 2C asks voters to extend the lodgers’ tax, which will be used to transform the National Western Center into an economic center for animal science and agriculture and make much-needed improvements to the Colorado Convention Center. 2C will create new partnerships between National Western and Colorado State University, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and History Colorado. Best of all, 2C will accomplish all of this without raising taxes! DMAR encourages its members to vote yes on 2C, a smart deal for Denver.
► NO on Wheat Ridge’s 300 – 300 would crush future economic development in Wheat Ridge by forcing Wheat Ridge residents to fund costly and unnecessary special elections for development projects that will bring much needed sales and property tax dollars to the city. Initiative 300 will not stop the proposed Walmart grocer on 38th & Wadsworth, but will put Wheat Ridge at an economic disadvantage in the Metro Area. Vote NO on 300 and keep Wheat Ridge open for business.
► YES on Jefferson County’s 1A – 1A asks voters to approve a 1.0 mill levy which will directly benefit Jefferson County Public Libraries by allowing them to restore library hours, generate investments in books, materials and technology and repair and refurbish existing facilities. This mill levy is greatly needed considering Jeffco libraries have not had a mill levy increase since 1987. DMAR encourages its members to vote Yes on 1A as vibrant libraries have a direct correlation with strong communities and increased property values.
