We are thrilled to announce the slate of candidates for the DMAR Board of Directors. Listed below are the DMAR Director Candidates vying for a position in one of the four Denver Metro districts. The highly-qualified candidates gave a brief statement as to why they want to be a part of DMAR’s leadership. Check out their profiles, learn more about their experience, ask questions and get ready to vote on July 1st.

North District Candidates
Phil Heter began his real estate career in 1973 with Van Schaack & Company in the north office. He became a charter member of the North Suburban Board of Realtors when they formed the board in 1974. Phil was on the Board of Directors for the NSBR for three years. He was the MC for several of the NSBR annual awards banquets and chaired the weekly marketing meetings (then referred to as the MLS breakfasts) for two years and served on several committees for CAR conventions. Phil has been a continuous member of NAR and the local boards for 42 consecutive years.
"I recently, and proudly, received the Emeritus designation from NAR. To a large degree the Emeritus status has caused me to reflect on how greatly I have benefited over the years from the privilege of being a REALTOR®. I am committed to becoming more involved in the REALTOR® community in any way I can, desiring most to become a member of the Board of Directors. I have time available and look forward to committing the time necessary to be a Director and to become involved in the functions associated with that position."
West District Candidates
As a progressive leader in the real estate industry, Christine Malara constantly strives to provide the finest customer service experience to her clients. With a twenty five-year track record of performance excellence with RE/MAX, Christine continues to grow her business by building strong, trustworthy relationships. In supporting the high ethical standards of RE/MAX Alliance, she has also forged strong business relationships within her office and all levels of the organization.
“I have been in the real estate industry for 30 years. Over the years, I have been involved in many JCAR/DMAR events and functions. At this point in my career it is my desire to make a more meaningful contribution to our membership. I am fully committed to the requirements and time necessary for this position. Candice is a Colorado native and a 25-year real estate veteran. She is passionate in her pursuit to help others develop their choices, their talent and their leadership. Candice believes in adding value to the lives of everyone she encounters, and continually motivates others to break through barriers and diminish limiting beliefs. She is a former RE/MAX Hall of Famer and current Team Leader at Keller Williams Advantage Realty.

I have held the position of Team Leader with Keller Williams for the past 4 years and I am a certified John Maxwell trainer, speaker and coach. This business has been my life and has changed my life. It is a continual growth experience. I am excited about the opportunity to learn and grow at a higher level within this industry and to be able to grow others and their business. Being a REALTOR® and the standards it represents, are qualities I hold near and dear to my heart. I have a passion to continue to raise the lid in our industry. Central District Candidates
Jason Peck has served on the DMAR Board of Directors since 2010. He is the current Government Affairs and RPAC chair. Jason has been recognized locally and nationally as one of the top selling REALTORSⓇ in Denver. He has been a DMAR REALTORSⓇ Excellence Awards Recipient (formerly Roundtable) for several years. He volunteers his time to DMAR because he is passionate about making sure members are protected, and finding ways to help their business grow.
“I have had the honor to serve on the DMAR BOD and prior DBR BOD since 2010. During that time I served during the merger of three associations. I am also the current Government Affairs and RPAC chair. In 2014 I helped lead the largest fundraising effort for DMAR/RPAC with $130,000 invested last year by its members. Under my leadership, GAC and RPAC have grown over the last couple of years. On behalf of DMAR I have testified at multiple city council meetings, met with Mayors, as well as local and state officials. In 2014 I helped create the RPAC gala, RPAC Day at the Races and was recognized by CAR as RPAC ambassador of the year. I have served on multiple committees and task forces over the last several years with DMAR. I would like to continue to serve our members, protect our industry and the rights of homeownership. I would be honored to continue to serve the members of this association."
Andrew Abrams has an unyielding passion and experience for real estate that brings certainty and peace of mind to the buying and selling process. As a Colorado native, Andrew takes pride in caring for and understanding his communities and clients. His extensive history working with appraisers ensures his confidence in determining property values and protecting his clients’ interests. Andrew has a wide range of knowledge in the real estate market through experiences: fix and flips, house valuations, buying investment properties, and utilizing the latest technology to advertise.
"I have been a member of the Government Affairs Committee (GAC) and currently serve as the Vice-Chair. Through the years on the GAC, I have learned the importance of protecting homeowners' rights through advocacy for such items as construction defects, allowing home owners to designate their own properties as historic and the importance of signage in the front the yard. I would love the opportunity to be a member of the board of directors for the central district to gain more experience and knowledge and be a direct line of communication from the GAC."

This insight into all the types of transactions that occur within the community requires a level head and the ability to understand the nuances in each transaction. Heather enjoys guiding newer agents in building successful relationship-based businesses and helping all agents achieve their real estate goals.

South/East District Candidates
As a Colorado resident for over 38 years, John McComas has successfully owned his own companies, managed sales teams for Fortune 500 companies, and now has a successful Real Estate sales team Metro Denver Real Estate Group with Coldwell Banker. As a top selling REALTOR® and a member of the Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® for eight years, John has received the Million Dollar Round Table award for the past five consecutive years.
“I use my experience and involvement in the local community to better serve my clients. As a Director on the DMAR Board I would use these same standards and values to conduct myself and to communicate with my fellow members.
