WHY: The job creation “EB-5” investment visa – resulting in a “green card” indicating U.S. permanent residence for the foreign investor – has, over the last 25 years, gradually come into public consciousness.  In simplest terms, a foreign investor invests $500,000 in a new commercial enterprise in a rural area or $1,000,000 in a metropolitan area, employs 10 full-time U.S. workers for at least two years, and obtains permanent residency for the investor and his or her family. Learn how the EB-5 program works. Also learn about the E-2 “treaty investor” visa for foreign investors and the L-1 “intracompany transferee” visa for employees of multinational companies with majority foreign ownership.
