Safety is Priceless (and this safety app is FREE to DMAR members)
Realtors® have a high-risk occupation. That's why DMAR invests in the safety of its members. And that's why we are excited to announce that the SafeShowings mobile app is now free to you as a member.
The SafeShowings app provides an easy, mobile way for real estate professionals to scan in visitors’ driver's licenses prior to showing a home. The app stores an image of the individual’s license alongside the listing info and agent information. It keeps an ongoing list of people who have entered the home and when they were there, which can then be accessed via the app or on the web. This smart and simple app helps keep you safe during showings. Plus, it deters criminal behavior because you have photos and contact info of all the potential buyers.
The SafeShowings app was developed by a Realtor® in Charleston, South Carolina after she experienced a situation that made her fear for her personal safety. Since its launch in the App Store and Google Play in April of 2020, the SafeShowings app has been used by nearly half a million people.

Rising Home Prices Lead to 10.5% Hike in Closing Costs
Homebuyers are paying more in closing costs, but it’s mostly because they’re paying more to buy a home. Lenders are actually holding their closing costs down, a new report shows. National average closing costs for single-family properties were $6,837 including taxes, and $3,836 excluding taxes, for the first half of 2021, according to ClosingCorp, a residential real estate closing data firm. Closing costs were up 12.3% and 10.5%, respectively, year over year. Read More
Goldman Sachs: Home prices will rise another 16% in ’22
Home prices are currently up 20% year-over-year, but according to a new Goldman Sachs market forecast, they may not have reached their peak yet. Not even close. Goldman Sachs economists predict that home prices will grow another 16% by the end of 2022. The rapid increase in home prices over the past year is due to a number of colliding factors, including low interest rates, tight housing inventory, pandemic-induced migration patterns and an increase in millennials entering the home buying market. In addition, as fears of inflation increase, many investors are purchasing properties as a hard asset. Read More
