Scott Grossman has an exciting year ahead of him. With the merger of Douglas Elbert REALTOR® Association finalized, DMAR's Ambassador Program launched, and districts continuing to grow, the sky is the limit for Scott during his 2016-2017 term as Chairman of the Board. In preparation for DMAR's Inaugural on September 10th, we asked him a few serious (and not so serious) questions to get to know him better.

DMAR: How would your colleagues describe you?
Scott: My colleagues would say I'm loyal, dependable, fun-loving and have a good sense of humor!
D: What makes you laugh out loud?
S: I love a good joke and spending time with my friends who always make me laugh! My favorite comedy movies include Airplane! and Spaceballs to give you glimpse of my sense of humor.
D: What are your hobbies?
S: My hobbies include hiking (occasional 14ers), skiing, and reading business/self-help books.
D: What is one song you can’t resist singing along to?
S: Pretty much any 80's or 90's song!
D: Does your family have a “motto” – spoken or unspoken?
S: Finish strong.
D: How did you get into real estate?
S: My wife Amy began her career in real estate and grew her business to the point of needing help. I was looking to get out of corporate America where I was a bank Branch Manager with Washington Mutual. After our son was born, I made the leap, and we started our team.
D: What is the best industry secret you’ve ever learned?
S: It's simple but so true, show up and be present, and surround yourself with successful people.
D: What is the most exciting part about becoming DMAR Chair?
S: Everything! I'm excited about our newly merged Association and continuing to make DMAR stronger as we move into the future.
D: What was your biggest takeaway from Chairwoman Laura Ruch?
S: Laura has been amazing at keeping me involved and including me on the details of how DMAR runs at the Board level. My biggest takeaways have been to work closely with DMAR staff to make sure we are moving forward in the right direction, as well as connecting with the Board of Directors and encouraging their engagement with the Association. I'm extremely grateful to Laura for her leadership and dedication to DMAR.
D: What are your three goals for the Association for the upcoming year?
S: Togetherness: Working together as a Board with one voice, as a newly merged Association, and welcoming the Douglas Elbert District as part of our family, while continually providing top-notch services and products for our members.
Colorado Real Estate Commission (CREC) Advocacy: Continuing our work monitoring what the CREC is doing, as well as being an industry leader in bringing up issues from our members that should be addressed by the CREC.
Ambassador Program: Continuing to grow communication throughout the Association. This is a way for offices and members to communicate through their Ambassadors to the Association, and for DMAR to to keep our members informed and involved.
D: Why should anyone attend this year’s Inaugural?
S: It’s going to be a blast at a great venue with awesome food and fantastic people. Back to the industry secret question, this is a great place to surround yourself with high-caliber, successful people. It would personally make me proud to have as many people attend as possible to show support for DMAR, which is nearly 7,000 members strong!
