COVID-19 Update from DMAR's Chairman of the Board

DMAR's Chairman of the Board, Euan Graham, gives an update regarding the coronavirus pandemic and DMAR's recommendations for open houses, showing properties and navigating this situation.

COVID-19 Updates + FAQs

Dear DMAR Members,

The COVID-19 situation is unlike anything we've ever dealt with, and while we don't have all the answers yet we want to assure you that we are making it our top priority to be a resource for you as we all navigate this situation together.

We know many of you have questions regarding COVID-19 and how it will affect your business. To help answer some of these unknowns, we've put together a list of FAQs, which you can view here. If you have additional questions, please email communications@dmarealtors.com and we will do our best to provide an answer for you. We've also added a new landing page on our website dedicated to keeping you up to speed on the Colorado coronavirus outbreak. We will be updating this page regularly with information from the Governor as well as market implications and advice for REALTORS®, homebuyers, home sellers and your clients.

Perhaps the most common question we are receiving is whether you can, or should, continue to hold open houses. At this point in time, DMAR is recommending that brokers consider suspending any open houses for the next 14 days in order to protect the health and safety of homeowners, clients and the public. We understand this can be a challenge for many of our members and their clients, but we encourage you to explore technology in place of holding open houses such as 3D interactive property scans, video tours and other methods to virtually tour. We all have a responsibility to do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and canceling open houses is an important step.

Now more than ever it’s important to be vigilant and proactive. We've already seen numerous restrictions and bans placed on businesses in our state, with stricter lockdowns on cities across the country which could be a signal of what's to come in Colorado. We recommend you make it a priority to familiarize yourself with other methods of showing homes and marketing properties as a precaution.

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available. While these are certainly challenging times for all of us, we want to remind you that we are all in this together and we will get through this together as a community.

Sincerely,

Euan Graham,
Chairman of the Board

Ann Turner,
CEO of DMAR
