About the Carin' Clinic

The Carin' Clinic was created in 1993 by Karen Pramenko and Karen Connor, two Jefferson County School Nurses who found that many of the students had no health insurance, and no where to go for health care. The Mission of the Carin' Clinic is to provide affordable, high-quality health care services to children between the ages of birth and 18 years of low-income families who have limited or no access to health care.

In 2015, there were 2,075 visits to the clinic by over 800 patients. Carin’ Clinic directly fulfills a need in the community for a clinic that provides high quality health care to
low-income, uninsured children, and children with Medicaid.  Carin’ Clinic is located in one of the most economically disadvantaged areas in the City of Arvada.  Over 86% of the children attending nearby Arvada K-8 School receive free or reduced lunches due to their family’s poverty.  The two other local elementary schools (Lawrence and Foster) have over 73% of their students living at or near.  Families of students attending the Head Start Program located next to the clinic, live at or below poverty as well (less than $24,300 a year for a family of four).
